This was my second Amangiri Resort Wedding in a 6 month period (you can see the first here). The Amangiri Resort Wedding venue has easily become one of my favorite places in the US. The rough textures of the desert and rock landscape- the hotel is situated smack on the Arizona/ Utah border-contrast beautifully with the smooth lines and modern features of the Amangiri itself. The entire venue seems to melt seemlessly into the desert scape. And dont get me started on the food. I was lucky enough to stay there for a few nights for a previous wedding and spent my meal times ordering every desert on the menu. All of them warranted loud sighing at each bite.
As with my last visit to Amangiri, this wedding was designed and planned by one of the most talented women in the industry, Manda of Mae&Co Creative. She has a unique eye for texture and I have seen her go all the miles for every wedding we’ve ever had together. I also had the immense privilege of working with someone I greatly admire, Alyssa of Color Theory Design . Her floral works are, at the very least, masterpieces. I have never come across a florist with such a defined eye for color. Both of these women are literal trendsetters in the wedding space.
One of the cooler aspects of this event was that it was also my first experience with a Zoom wedding. The couple had live-streaming services set up during their ceremony and then did Zoom toasts with family and friends on the patio of Amangiri (I highly HIGHLY doubt they’d appreciate me calling it a patio but there it is) which was a beautiful way to incorporate family members who couldn’t travel due to Covid.
As an extra plus, this was Baby’s First Jewish Wedding for me and I was honored/surprised when Steph and Justen asked me to sign the Ketubah as a witness. In addition to crying over the beauty of the Navajo dancers, I reveled over the night sky and stole away to capture some images of it for my beautiful couple.
