The Atrium Dead Wedding // Tess+ Jackson // Shorewood, Wisconsin

dead wedding couple

One of the things I truly truly love and value about my couples is how insanely different they all are while simultaneously being almost exactly the same. They love different things, different people, have different ideas about their weddings, the world, different decor, different goals but they are all the same kind of people- kind, sarcastic, hilarious, empathetic and so worthy of all the love in the world, my heart literally wants to explode just thinking about all of them. The ones that live on this website are only a small sample of the hearts that I have fallen in love with over the years. I’m not bullshitting you or myself when I say my couples are the absolute best humans walking this planet.   I don’t even know where to begin with these two wonderful creeps.  They came all the way to Spokane for their engagement photos, where they met me with a box of cheese curds and beer from their home state,  a faraway and mysterious land called Wisconsin.  They then proceeded to get matching tattoos at Anchored Art here in Spokane,  while I squatted over them with my camera . Next, we skipped off to an ancient cemetery- because sure- and shot next to a beautiful mausoleum. We spent about 20 minutes wondering through the old head stones, pointing out the stories carved into each one and wondering why life was cruel to the young and kinder to the old. Flash forward to their Wisconsin wedding a few months later. I call this the Dead wedding because all the decor was just that – deceased. From the skull shaped macrame backdrop to the rare moth Tess gave Jackson as a gift, to the expired animal centerpieces. She definitely had the heaviest bouquet I’ve ever held to boot and her beloved grandma was her flower girl. This  Sunday wedding absolutely screamed Tess+Jackson. PS: They said they wanted different and were down for anything.(Nighttime portraits.) Want to read more about these two? They spilled their guts over on Green Wedding Shoes where this wedding was featured. The Armory Wedding// Darcy+Joey // Portland, WA

Darcy wore a glitter jumpsuit during her reception at The Armory in Portland, Oregon. She was a blazing hiphop champion goddess in sequins and busted several incredible moves continuously over a period of  hours and has more energy than any year old Labrador or toddler that I have ever seen in my entire life. She smiles smiles smiles and she makes me smile.  I am amazed at this woman and also totally jealous because although I also love to dance, I move all of my body simultaneously and to a rhythm that has nothing to do with whats coming out of the speakers. I dance to my own drum and its not pretty, but it feels right. I met with Joey first that morning and bird dogged and his fellas down to a local cafe where he opted for bacon and coffee toasts over putting on a suit and tie for his photos. I loved it and got an awesome picture of some dude in shorts rollerblading like a badass in his cute powder pink helmet (which you can see below) and also was hit on (along with the incredible Haley Bateman)  by a 72 year old drunk man at a nearby table, multiple times, who kept saying WOW right in my face with his hot breath at 10 am.  All of these things combined to make for one of the funnest morning groom stories I’ve had the pleasure to witness. I am going to say this and I fricken mean it- I LOVE THESE PEOPLE. I love their hearts, I love how passionate they are about the people they care about (they said a unique and personal hello to every single table at their reception- a first experience for me), and they just friggen love and love and love with constant actions for everyone around them. They constantly send me work, they checked on me TOO MUCH throughout the wedding day and they had me served with both the steak and the salmon, which is always going to be the way to my heart. I am so grateful to you Darcy and Joey, for everything. You are incredible people and you truly deserve every thing good this world can offer you. I have a shit ton of love for you.
